Things I like Thursday: Sushi

yum yum.....you are making me hungry! I LOVE sushi ! :)

I used to love unagi until I had a couple of bad ones from some normally good restaurants. The unagi is usually predone by another company....and there were some bad batches floating around. After 3 nasty experiences, I just can't touch the stuff anymore. :(

But....there is still lots and lots of other yummy stuff! :) mmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!

Now I want sushi too! :P

it's a little after 9am and now i'm craving sushi. i love unagi, spider rolls, and anything crispy. :)
i love the taste of unagi... but the thought of eating an eel? UGH. *shudder* those creatures are SO gross. hehehe. although, maybe i should think of it as MY DUTY to eat all of those disgusting creatures. hehehe.
I haven't had a bad sushi experience..yet. That's interesting with the unagi. Hmmmm.
When I was writing this post I was salivating thinking about it.
Sushi for breakfast! I've done this before a couple of times. Yum!
Yes, eels are really really gross. We are doing everyone a favor by eating them ;)

Sushi is definitely a favorite of mine too! (I can see what our vox meet-up is going to include -- unagi -- also my favorite). I think its such a great meal -- lean, not-too-filling, often with great presentation.

I'm the only person in my crowd though that digs Ikura -- the salmon roe.

ah... the next time i go, i'll have to be sure to order LOTS of it, then. hehe... :P
Ah sushi!! It's one thing that I've really missed during my pregnancy - I catch myself fantasizing about spicy tuna rolls....
Is there a SD vox meet-up in the works? Weren't you nominated to set it up? I think it should include sushi (plus other items that non-sushi-eaters could enjoy). I'd be happy to help set it up. Ikura is one of those things that initially looks a little scary, but once you've popped it in your mouth...it's soooo good.
I missed it when I was pregnant too. Our first real date night (post-baby) was actually at a sushi bar.
i love sushi too! sometimes i prefer sashimi though. sometimes there is just too much rice in sushi rolls.

That's the only bad ones I have had and its because Unagi is usually something they buy specially prepared and then heat it up on that special little BBQ like unit. With the special sauce sometimes its hard to spot if its gone off. It was totally a freak thing and, as far as I know, it hasn't happened since. My hubby and sis always says it tastes good....but after 3 instances of it happening to me, I just get nauseous-association to it. Such a shame because it was sooooooo yummy. (when it was good)

And I just want to say I am in agreement with Key.....sashimi is where its at! I often prefer straight sashimi as rice is just a filler-upper! :)

And other things, I don't know where everyone lives but how easy it for everyone to get good sushi where they live? I have travelled around somewhat and haven't found as good sushi as I find in my hometown of Vancouver (BC, Canada). We have amazing sushi here....decently priced....and our city is chock full of sushi and japanese restaurants.

It's easy for me to get good sushi, but I live in CA. I've had great sushi along the west coast (perhaps proximity to Japan), and not so great sushi just about everywhere else. I love Vancouver by the way! My first trip there was in 86 for the Expo, and I've been back a couple of times because a very dear friend hails from Burnaby (and I've accompanied her home to visit her parents). It is a very cool city. :)

My husband and I have a date night this Saturday (belated anniversary celebration) and your post has put Sushi in my mind. I hope he'll agree because now I'm stuck on that idea.
I live in Lake Mary and we have a great sushi place called Amuras. I crave it about once a week! Reading your post made me hungry lol!
